The prime role of the head of the science department is to establish and monitor a science curriculum aligned with the Aljazari schools’ learning program (JLP), allocate the resources, assign the teachers, and regularly check the quality of teaching. It is expected to demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and perform a good departmental leadership to promote the harmony. In addition, it is expected to contribute to the routine and extra-curricular life of the school, as well as that of the department.

[2] Qualification:

➤ Bachelor's or master’s degree in in education with a specialization in Science, Physics, Chemistry or equivalent

➤ Minimum 4 years of experience as a Science Teacher

➤ Experience teaching in a classroom environment

➤ Strong organization, interpersonal communication skills

➤ Team leader with good strategy-planning, problem-solving and critical thinking skills

➤ English is a must, Turkish is a plus

[3] Task Requirements:

➤ Plan, implement and evaluate appropriate educational procedural programs in your department to meet the needs of local students attending the schools aligned to the JLP.

➤ Develop and oversee the curriculum, instruction, and assessment programs

➤ Prepare, monitor, and update annual departmental plans in consultation with colleagues.

➤ Take the lead in ensuring that school policies and strategies are embedded in schemes of work and departmental plans.

➤ Ensure that the schools’ educational program, JLP (Aljazari Learning Program) is properly implemented.

➤ Provide support and guidance to parents in relation to education of their children.

➤ Monitor instructional and managerial processes to ensure that program activities are related to program outcomes and use findings to take corrective actions.

➤ Lead the department, inducting, developing, deploying, motivating, and appraising staff where relevant to ensure that they have clear expectations of their roles, and that high standards are achieved and maintained.

➤ Encourage members of the department to develop their leadership potential and to share and develop new ideas.

➤ Manage day to day requirements such as examination entry and departmental timetables, ensuring accurate records are kept and delegating as appropriate to ensure the efficiency of the department.
